Wedding & Honeymoon
Haven’t updated the ol’ blog for a while, and I figured now was as good time to.
We got married on Friday, 4/17. There were a few last-mintute crises but it all fell into place nicely.
The wedding took place on the beach at the Harbor Bay Marriott down here in Fort Lauderdale, FL. There was a cocktail hour in the presidential suite, though the wedding party lingered on the beach for photos (coming soon — if you’re my friend on facebook you may have seen some already). Nice pad. Then we had the reception in a ballroom.
It was a fairly small wedding. I suppose that’s a consequence of having a destination wedding during a huge recession. It was fun, though, because we were able to chat with just about everyone.
Now we’re officially on our honeymoon. Going to drive down to Key Largo in the morning. Good times. I’m writing this on the balcony of the now in-laws’ condo in Ft. Lauderdale overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Couldn’t ask for a nicer, more relaxing atmosphere.
We’ve got a lot of walking in, which is good because we’ve been eating a lot. 🙂 I’ve had a lot of steak. We had filet mignon at the reception as well. We’re about to walk down to a place called Shooters which is right on the intercoastal waterway. It’s a fun place. I think I’ll buy a goofy shirt.
Anyway, thanks to everyone who made it down here, and a big thanks to our wedding party. We were surrounded by family and good friends, all of whom went out of their way to make this as wonderful an experience as possible.
One nice, funny story — on our way down for the pre-ceremony pictures, people around the pool gave Kelly and me a warm round of applause. We were taken aback and nearly embarrassed. 🙂
