Povert

It's Pronounced "Pah-vert." You povert.

Debates

As pointed out in a NY Times editorial, it was refreshing (sort of) to watch the candidates discuss important issues without all the usual nonsense (sort of). The debate was heavily moderated, though less than most people feared. There was a decent amount of something that almost resembled discussion.

Kerry seemed to do very well, I think. He was very straightforward and clear about his positions. He nailed Bush on a couple points. Bush made the mistake of saying, “The enemy attacked us” in reference to Iraq. Kerry snatched that one up.

I also thought it was interesting that Bush was reduced to blurting the equivalent to “It’s not my fault” in regard to Iran.

It was very interesting to watch the split-screen. Kerry often seemed eager to speak when Bush spoke. Bush often looked annoyed.

I think it’s obvious that Kerry beat Bush this time. I don’t think, however, that that will translate directly into a win for Kerry.

I need to watch parts again, though. I had to work last night and watched a replay at midnight.
